EBRD (“the Bank”) is an international development bank that provides financing and advisory services across Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Southern Eastern Mediterranean regions. The contributions are received from donor governments including the European Union.As the Principal of the Funds Accounting team, I deputised the Associate Director as required and assisted in the management, mentoring and appraisal in a team of up to eight Finance Managers. I also provided assistance to other departments such as accounts payables and treasury settlements to help resolve issues.I reviewed and signed-off on periodic internal and external reporting as well as journals produced by the team and helped to ensure the team meets all deliverables and deadlines. I played a significant role in the team's preparation of IFRS-compliant, EU Accounting Rules (based off IPSAS) or special purpose financial statements subject to external audit and the completion of more complex tasks as required. I assessed the impact of the latest IFRS accounting standards on Donor Funds’ financial statements to ensure compliance and ensure the accounting policies of the Donor Funds are up-to-date and consistent with IFRS, EU Accounting Rules or special purpose policies. I reviewed Donor Fund Agreements/Amendments and provided recommendations of accounting impacts and financial products.I identified solutions to non-standard tasks/queries as well as regularly reviewed procedures to ensure the accounting department best responds to the needs of Donors. I monitored, coached and trained both new and existing Finance Managers in the performance of tasks within the team, contributing to the team’s ability to meet its objectives.

As an Associate Manager in Funds Accounting, I was responsible for the preparation of periodic and annual financial reports on behalf of the Bank and the Donor Funds which the Bank administrates. I maintained the financial records and provided timely and accurate information on financial performance and financial position. I was responsible for the accurate maintenance of financial records for both the Bank and the Donor Funds. I assisted in the implementation of the accounting policies of the Bank in line with IFRS and EU Accounting Rules and ensured compliance with internal and external reporting requirements. I interacted with a wide range of departments within the bank and responded to inquiries from internal and external auditors. I supervised and trained new staff members and year end temporary staff.

I was hired in a temporary contractor position under a limited liability company until my employment checks went through to become an EBRD employee.

I was promoted to Assistant Manager II effective 1 April 2016.As an assistant manager I in-charged a wide range of audit and assurance engagements of a complex nature and higher risk and non-routine audits. I was involved in the coaching and mentoring of junior team members and assisted managers in the management of teams and management of client relationships.
