Providing advice, information and analysis to the Vice-Chancellor and Chair of Council on a variety of internal and external issues; establishing and leading Public Affairs function for the University, leading internal and external engagement work with academics, Heads of Department, Deans, PVCs, civil servants and politicians; Secretary to the University Executive Board, co-ordinating work between members of the Board and monitoring implementation of the University Strategy; leading the Vice-Chancellor’s Department including running the administrative function and all finance and HR matters.Held role of Acting Secretary March-June 2017.

Leading stakeholder engagement for YF, alongside resolving the most complex internal and external issues facing the organisation. Developing and implementing the stakeholder management strategy; influencing and engaging local, regional and national politicians, business organisations and key public and private stakeholders. Ensuring the smooth running of the Chief Executive's Office and Executive Team meetings. Writing key proposals, reports and submissions for the organisation, transforming technical jargon into persuasive writing. Heading a diverse team of senior leaders, administrators and policy, political and writing specialists responsible for support of and detailed advice and analysis to the Board, Chair, CEO and Executive Team.

Leeds

Senior Public Affairs Manager: developing a programme of political events; liaison between YF and Whitehall/Ministerial offices during the 2007 Floods; spearheading a ministerial visit programme in partnership with Government Office and Whitehall that included the Cabinet's visit to Leeds; writing policy speeches for the Chief Executive and Chair; advice and analysis of political issues for the Chair and Chief Executive; management of two staff; and writing select committee evidence submissions.
