Main goals are to improve the position of kidney patients in the Netherlands in healthcare as well as in the other important areas of life (work, freetime, relationships, etc.). Topics like dialysis and transplantation, shared decision making, decision aids, patient reported outcomes (PROMs) and quality of life, e-health and selffmanagement, patient participation and advocacy, are of main importance. The NVN has a lively relationship with the Kidney Foundation (Nierstichting), the quality institute on nefrologie (Nefrovisie), nefrologists (NfN) transplantation specialists (NTV), dialysis nurses (V&VN), social workers, other patient groups and policymakers.Over 7.500 of the 60.000 kidney patients are member of the NVN.
