About Signe Sofie Hansen
Understanding societal power structures and fighting for a healthy planet and for the rights and empowerment of marginalised people drive my work and my personal passion for a just world with equity for all. In 2021, I founded Hala Collective as a reaction to obsolete and inadequate period solutions that not only pollute the planet with plastic waste, but also are unhealthy and uncomfortable to use, as well as inaccessible for many. I wanted to develop reusable leakproof underwear that is so comfortable to wear that you want to wear it even when not on your period or needing leakproof protection, and I wanted to develop designs that are stylish and inclusive of all the various bodies that are bleeding or leaking. Needless to say, I also wanted a minimum of synthetic materials and sourcing and production that live up to leading social and environmental standards. After 2.5 years of researching, designing and prototyping, Hala's first collection of underwear is finally on the market. We are so happy to present you underwear that is not only gorgeous and comfortable, but also functional and safe to use. Because if underwear isn't doing anything, why are we even wearing it in the first place?***Within the context of international conflict and development, I have specialised in fragile contexts, social inclusion and forced displacement, in particular displaced people’s rights and their relation with the host community and the state.I have experience with working in the private sector, international and local organisations, government agencies and academia, and I believe that collaboration between these various actors as well as inclusion of the voices of marginalised people themselves are crucial towards reaching impactful and sustainable development. I have operational experience, research and analytical expertise, as well as skills in visual and written communication, stakeholder engagement, partnerships and leadership. I am socially adept and enjoy working in multi-cultural environments.Additionally, I am an ashtanga yoga practitioner and certified yoga teacher (RYT 200h). I am curious, adventurous and always learning.
Listed skills include Coordination, Critical Thinking, Communication, Social Innovation, and 32 others.
