As part of the KDMHarris research group, I studied powder X-ray diffraction data for a new and highly elusive polymorph of a common household drug, ibuprofen. This involved, indexing the data, cross referencing against known polymorphs, use of industry specific software and a supercomputer to run algorithms and computational chemistry methods such as density functional theory. I presented my findings for this research to a public audience at the end of October 2018.

Often working directly alongside the managing pharmacist in each dispensary, I gathered a keen understanding into pharmaceuticals and the reliance the community, and the NHS, has upon them. I also liaised with local GPs and community nurses, in dealing with patient queries and prescriptions. This included helping patients understand changes to their usual medication.Through the first two year of my university degree, I took on a casual contract with the company and worked throughout the academic breaks as relief across all dispensaries.
