Since I designed and built my own bike, exploring technologies and innovation for starting new businesses has been part of my routine. As such, I had regular contact with entrepreneurs in various technology sectors & with investors.

I was tasked with the global integration of the Engineering organizations that work on LED drivers. The assignment was to create one global (virtual) Engineering team working together.• I managed a team of around 125 engineers at 4 locations.• Introduced the concept of Engineering 4.0; building global (virtual) teams that seemingly work together on projects.• Structured and integrated the four Engineering organizations into global virtual discipline teams.• Expanded the (online) Engineering systems to the other locations.• Globalized the application of the new product architecture and integrated it with the existing architectures.• Aligned tools, systems & processes across the various locations.

My assignment was to increase the profitability, predictability & output of the Engineering organization to reach financial independence and sustainable presence of the Eindhoven site. • I managed a team of around 45 engineers.• Redefined the Engineering vision/strategy & restructured the Engineering organization.• Configurated a new way of working & rolled out the accompanying processes.• Setup the discipline teams using new methods/tools.• Rolled out Engineering systems to have ‘live’ visibility on product development project progress, teams capacity/utilization & engineers’ heat maps.• Based change management on a new product platform.• Lead the development of a future proof new product platform based on new technology (& anticipated developments) resulting in a maintainable, sustainable and innovative path forward.• Started to modernize the entire product portfolio.

I worked at the Micro Electronics division where I brought the (in-house) developed technology to the market. To do so, I optimized the organization to enable the sales, business development & technology teams to re-connect with technology-oriented customers. The new market approach was based on a technological analysis to select potential innovative applications and customers in the various sectors.

Starting with a green field, SeeCubic has been established as a Research, Development & Industrialization company in the field of auto-stereoscopic 3D displays. The main target was to develop the technology, components and services of the Ultra-D brand to bring 3D Displays without glasses to the (consumer) markets. I was responsible for building the technology part of the company. This included go to market strategies, technology development & running the operation. Moreover, I had P&L & HRM responsibility for the Eindhoven site.• I forecasted initial capex proposals, infrastructure requirements, company setup timelines & required team capabilities.• Initiated, defined and implemented technology development strategies.• Defined and implemented company-structure, -organization and -processes.• Created a multi-disciplinary project-based organization in which cross functional cooperation is stimulated to align activities and deliverables.• Managed all technology teams and project leaders.• Successfully negotiated complex (high value) deals, e.g. with the automotive industry.

Within Philips Lighting & CleanTech the main task was to find new technologies, new product propositions and/or new business models that enable the start of new ventures. Based on my technological input & advice, business decisions were taken on whether or not to start or continue with a particular venture opportunity.

From the early stages, I contributed to the creation of a Philips company in the field of autostereoscopic 3D-TV. Starting with a green field, we created a company that produced & sold hardware- and software products. A major achievement was to develop the initial hardware product portfolio, including the development of the accompanying production processes and setting up the industrial infrastructure. This included all procedures and systems to enable product tracking and obtain a predictable industrial output with the quality level required. In parallel, I generated IP, contributed to the technology roadmap, the execution of projects to develop these future products and to manage their phase-in into the industrial environment.
