About Ha Pham, Ph.D

As a Senior Scientist in Assay Development at BellBrook Labs, I specialize in developing and optimizing biochemical and cellular assays for many therapeutic enzymes, with a focus on the innate immune and DNA damage repair pathways. I characterize assays in various formats, including FP, FI, TR-FRET, Alphalisa, Luminescence, and colorimetric. Additionally, I involved in a drug discovery program for Trex1, a key enzyme in immune regulation and cancer. My expertise encompasses enzymology, high-throughput screening, hit triage and validation, and more.Prior to joining BellBrook Labs, I completed my PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where I designed a versatile toolkit to accelerate the generation of high dynamic-range FRET biosensors for microscopic imaging and cell-based assays. During my postdoctoral work, I primarily focused on engineering protein tools to elucidate the function of cellular lipids. Through these experiences, I have acquired skills in molecular cloning, protein expression, western blotting, cell culture, microscopy, and microinjection. My passion lies in creating biochemical tools that can advance drug discovery and fundamental research, and in collaborating with other scientists and stakeholders to translate scientific insights into practical solutions.

Design and conduct biochemistry and chemical biology experiments for developing high dynamic-range Lanthanide-based FRET biosensors for microscopic imaging and high throughput screening at Dr. Lawrence Miller’s lab. Specific Accomplishments:• Develop a library of high dynamic-range lanthanide-based FRET biosensors of Rac1• Optimize the application of these sensors in detecting Rac1 inhibitors in a cell-basedmultiwell TR-FRET assay• Optimize the cellular uptake of lanthanide probes with cell-penetrating peptide and imagethe probes and the biosensors with time-gated microscopy
