MD, coordinating strategy, marketing and directory production.The Freephone Directory was a powerful - and unique - idea 'of its time', though made redundant by telecommunications progress at the start of the 2000's. There was a time when every phone was provided by BT, and in addition to the monthly line rental, EVERY phone call was charged for by BT, who had no competition. FREEPHONE numbers were used bu businesses to make calls to them FREE - which sucked prospects and customers to them. Freephone Directory published a national B&W Directory of ALL Freephone numbers, along with a local, colour Freephone Magazine magazine, a Freephone CD, and in time Freephone Directory Online. In time however came Telephone Services competition, starting with Cable & Wireless, and soon a score of providers competed with each other offering lower costs (least cost routing). BT responded by including all phone calls FREE within their monthly line rental packages and - almost overnight in 2004 - the FREEPHONE marketplace - and with it FREEPHONE DIRECTORY died.
