Formerly Trinity Mirror Group, Reach Plc is the UK’s largest publisher with 240 newspaper titles in the UK. As a member of the senior IT leadership team, I’m responsible for IT service delivery, technical innovation, budget management, vendor / supplier relationships and contract management / renegotiation on multi-million£ IT contracts. I lead a team of 7 with 4 direct management reports. Multi-million£ projects I’ve overseen include acquisition integrations on 2 large / 2 medium-sized integrations, migration of on-site data centres to AWS, and delivery of key systems change / upgrade projects, on time and to budget.

Member of the senior IT leadership team with responsibility for IT Capex and procurement, contract reviews, budget planning, risk analysis and software licensing audits. I played a leading role in a major transformation programme to outsource the IT department and worked closely with outsourcing specialists to transform the function, improve service delivery and quality, and reduce costs.I was also a key player in several acquisition and divestments, identifying synergies, conducting IT due diligence, budget analysis, contract and risk assessments, and prepared and presented board level reports and integration proposals.

Managed all aspects of Mirror Group’s text and picture licencing activities with revenue of c.£3m p.a. and responsible for IT infrastructure of the division with an annual cost budget of £2m. I reported to the CIO and led a team of 7 direct management reports in an overall team of 70+ across 11 sites. I oversaw a key IT change project to rollout new systems and replace legacy technology across 15 offices and 400 users, delivering improved performance and reduced operating costs, and was instrumental in initiating and driving an outsourcing model for the content formatting operation, delivering savings of £200k. I led the tender and procurement process for new suppliers and negotiated and managed new content syndication contracts. I also held the role of Alternate Board Director for the Newspaper Licensing Agency (NLA).
