Provide a variety of legal, regulatory and compliance services to insurers, including contract drafting and review, assist in responding to Market Conduct Exams, DOI and customer complaints, summarize legislation and regulations with impact on business units, assist in agent contracting and disciplinary actions and other legal, regulatory and compliance issues as needed.

Responsible for handling the legal and compliance issues affecting the health insurance business unit, including managing certain litigation. Reviewed, drafted and negotiated contracts impacting the business unit. Contracts include settlement agreements, vendor agreements and real estate leases. Interacted and negotiated with various governmental agencies regarding issues impacting business unit. Advised business units on complying with recently enacted legislation.

Created and managed compliance department for Third Party Administrator (TPA) that provided administrative services to life, health and annuity insurers. Handled certain regulatory issues which required interaction with state Attorney Generals and Department of Insurance staff regarding investigations, complaints and filings of non insurance products, including TPA license filings. Responsible for drafting and reviewing certain agreements which included vendor, confidentiality, Business Associate and client agreements. Served as liaison to clients' compliance staff regarding compliance and regulatory issues impacting clients' business.

Provided market conduct investigation services for life, health and annuity insurer regarding the sales practices of its agency force and provided written report of findings and recommendations to insurer.

Responsible for handling the legal, compliance and regulatory issues affecting the Life, Annuity and Long Term Care business units. Reviewed, drafted and negotiated various legal agreements, including agent, vendor, consultant, Business Associate, and sport sponsorship agreements. Served as Chief Privacy Officer and handled privacy issues affecting all of the business units. Served as Chief Counsel for the Annuity business unit which included responsibility for the management of staff consisting of 14 employees and all issues impacting the unit.

Responsible for representing the life and annuity insurance industry by monitoring and handling all of the legislative and regulatory issues in four states and the District of Columbia that impact the industry. Staffed industry committees, managed outside counsel, directed national lobbying campaign, drafted position papers, and provided written and oral testimony concerning such issues in front of regulators, legislators, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and other national and state trade associations.
