Verisign is the domain name registry for some of the world’s most trusted and reliable top-level domains like .com and .net. Verisign has managed this critical internet infrastructure for COM and NET TLDs for 25 years with 100 percent uptime and availability. Hari currently manages highly available application devilry and security tools infrastructure and is responsible for enterprise applications like GitHub, Jira, Jenkins, Artifactory, and NexusIQ. He also was a senior development manager of COM/NET registry development. Hari directed teams to implement resilient applications and batches that process domain name registrations using EPP (Extensible Provisioning Protocol). He modernized the architecture of monitoring and management platforms, making them resilient, highly available, and customer-centric for faster operational responsiveness. He managed a team to upgrade the billing, data escrow, and reporting infrastructures by extending/migrating existing Oracle and Golden Gate based architectures to Hadoop/BigData solutions. Hari also manages a wide range of on-demand and recurring organizational programs. He currently directs the engineering intern program with collaboration from recruiters, interns, hiring managers, VPs, and business leaders across Verisign. Hari developed strategies, managed road maps, and co-formulated objectives and critical milestones along with VPs. Hari regularly attends campus recruitment events, fostering relationships with various schools like UVA, VT, UMD-CP, and GMU. He conducts onsite interviews, hackathons, and other events to attract and hire the best talent. In addition, he supports various other programs like new-hire onboarding, divestiture employee support, security tools, and open source scanners evaluation, rolling over Virtual Desktop Infrastructures and engineering wide mac laptop re-paving, etc.,

SWIFT provides a network that enables financial institutions worldwide to send and receive information about financial transactions in a secure, standardized, and reliable environment. If you ever sent or received money, it is more than likely that the bank or financial institution would have used the secure network provided by SWIFT. Hari worked as a developer/lead for various network provisioning automation projects. Hari led and implemented the automation of remote OS and configuration updates to customer (bank) VPN devices eliminating the need for expensive, sometimes impractical on-site technicians to rural parts of the world. This solution eliminated costly in-person worldwide maintenance of VPN devices and improved customer satisfaction, time to upgrade, and security posture (due to the ability to upgrade/patch devices frequently).Hari also worked on various other projects and process transformations (Waterfall to Agile). He took self-initiative to analyze and fine-tune task parameters for the provisioning process to make it highly efficient. Complex data center swing and deployment automation are some of the other notable successful projects Hari completed during his career at SWIFT.

Us

Few of us still remember the days when we needed to either go to the cell phone stores or undergo a complicated process of upgrading mobile OS firmware via computer. FOTA (Firmware Over the Air) is a norm nowadays but was not always the case. Hari worked at InnoPath, which pioneered the over-the-air firmware upgrade process for mobile devices. Hari worked on developing an active-active FOTA solution and integrating it with some well-known cell phone manufacturers like Verizon.

India

Hari worked as a lead for the development of IP Multimedia Subsystem part of 3G core network. He recruited and trained a small team of naive engineers to build this important 3G component for Satyam Computer Services. He also led various campus recruitment events. Hari also trained and coached these junior engineers to place them in various MNCs like Motorola and Nokia.

Antwerp Area, Belgium

Hari led the distributed PPPoE (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet) protocol stack and SNMP agent development for the DSLAM initiative for Alcatel, Belgium. At this point in history, DSLAM and Co-axial were competing technologies to provide data/internet access to the customers. DSLAMs had a huge advantage due to the fact that they utilize existing telephone lines for data access. Unlike dial-up modems, DSL technology utilizes PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) for providing much faster and reliable data access to telephone customers. Hari worked on developing the PPPoE stack for Alcatel, Belgium and supported integration of the stack with other Alcatel’s proprietary components. This is the first time (in 2003) Hari got introduced and practiced Agile methodologies and daily scrums. Hari trained some of his Belgium colleagues in the protocol stacks and interoperability of C and C++. He also utilized IOCM (Inter Object Communication Module) framework which enables remote object calls and intern process communication across planes, something similar to REST calls these days.

Seoul, South Korea

Hari implemented the PPPoE protocol stack in the linux kernel for Corecess, Seoul, South Korea. He migrated existing PPPoE stack to the kernel space for better performance to give the product a distinct advantage over the competition. He integrated RADIUS (Remote Access Dial-in User Service) protocol for authentication and accounting. Hari also created marketing and training presentations for the product.

India

After graduation from Indian Institute of Technology, Hari started his career with Hughes Software Systems. There he developed the core business logic and network interface module for the one of the first ever web based satellite network bandwidth management system. He also supported successful testing and integration with Hughes Networks Systems (a parent company) in the US. He later moved on to another challenging project to build protocol stacks for 3G core subsystems. He developed distributed messaging solutions so that multiple core subsystems can interact and communicate with each other more efficiently and with less latency. He also implemented proprietary PAP(Push Access Protocol) over SMTP (mail) and FTP which were unique features of the 3G subsystem at that time. Going through the plethora of standards and reference documents, he developed integration test plans which were later taken as acceptance test plans by the customer - NEC Japan. Hari also played an active role in developing presentations for the management and automating the testing, debugging. He also brought the new processes like the daily build and smoke test to practice.
