South Asians for America is a National Grassroots Organization dedicated to the education, advocacy & mobilization of the South Asian community nationwide to build South Asian political power. In my role as National Organizing Chair, I have helped SAFA establish state chapters in 18+ states and build relationships with key South Asian elected and community leaders as well as AAPI & other coalition groups nationwide.

As Co-Chair of the California Democratic Party’s Finance Committee, I worked with other committee members and staff to raise critical funds for the largest State Democratic Party in the nation, by promoting initiatives such as the Dem2022 monthly donor program and Trailraiser program.

Recognized by the California Democratic Party API Caucus with the 2021 Trailblazer of the Year Award for mobilizing the South Asian community nationwide to help elect President Biden and VP Harris in the 2020 Presidential election.

Founded in 2017, Fund Her is a political action committee dedicated to electing progressive women to lead our states, with an emphasis on supporting women of color. The only organization of its kind, Fund Her provides the missing piece: the financial support to ensure progressive, accomplished women are well-positioned to win.To date, Fund Her has helped elect 79 women in 6 states, over 70% of whom are women of color or of the LGTBQ+ community. Our work has helped reverse a decade of decline in California, bringing women's representation in the Legislature to over 42% for the first time in California's history and electing California's first female Lieutenant Governor, Eleni Kounalakis.

South Asians for Biden (SAB) is a national grassroots organization that was founded to engage, educate, and mobilize the South Asian community to elect Joe Biden as President in November 2020. SAB established state chapters nationwide including in Arizona, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia. Served as a Member of the National Finance Committee, South Asian Finance Council and South Asians For the People for the Presidential Campaign of Kamala Harris; Co-Founded Kamala Harris for San Mateo County and organized debate watch parties, phonebanks, textbanks and canvassing trips to Nevada and Iowa; Co-Led California Kamala Organizing Academy, helping to train volunteer organizers throughout the state who founded and led their own local teams of volunteers.

Received the Jefferson Award for Public Service for my contributions to improving the lives of students at San Mateo High School District.

SMHS Foundation raises funds to support San Mateo High School academics and programs that help prepare students for the success they deserve. The Foundation is a non-profit organization that reaches out to parents, alumni, community leaders, businesses, and foundations for private philanthropic support to fund key projects identified by the school administration and staff. I served as Board Vice President of the Foundation from 2012-2013 and Co-President from 2013-2018, promoting equity and access to education for the underserved students in San Mateo High School, the largest high school in the district with 40% in the reduced and free lunch program. Working with an amazing group of parents, we were successful in raising the graduation rate among students and in 2015, SMHS was recognized in the top 250 schools in the country for the first time by Newsweek magazine.

Served as a Parent Volunteer in numerous leadership roles in the Hillsborough City School District, including as Parent Group President at both West Hillsborough Elementary & Crocker Middle Schools, Associated Parent Groups of Hillsborough Board Member, Hillsborough Schools Foundation Community Campaign Co-Chair & Hillsborough Family Fun Day Carnival Co-Chair. In order to inspire Hillsborough students to be global citizens and lifelong learners, I made many visits to the classrooms at Crocker Middle School as a guest lecturer, where I taught a unit on Indian history, culture, and arts.

In February 2005, I joined the CFHI team as the Recover Program Coordinator, thanks to the CFHI Board’s commitment to increasing the scope of the Medical Supply Recovery program. The goals ofthe Recover program were expanded to include not only greater recovery and redistribution of unused medical supplies and equipment, but also the promotion of greater awareness amongthe medical community in the US about reducing and recycling medical waste. Students who participated in CFHI programs were contacted upon their return to promote Recover in theirown local academic and medical communities, and encouraged to begin Recover collection programs.

Dr. Evaleen Jones founded Child Family Health International (CFHI) in 1992 after traveling to Ecuador as a medical student in the late 1980s. 28 years later, CFHI's 40+ programs in 12 countries connect students with local health professionals and community leaders transforming perspectives about self, global health, and healing. I joined CFHI as a volunteer in 2003.

International Medical Corps provides emergency relief to those struck by disaster, no matter where they are, no matter what the conditions, working with them to recover, rebuild, and gain the skills and tools required for self-reliance. I served as a Development Associate in this NGO founded by US physicians and nurses to establish humanitarian assistance programs, essential healthcare training, and emergency medical services in war-torn and impoverished nations worldwide. I worked with the Development Team to prepare grant proposals for IMC's several MCH programs, including therapeutic feeding programs for starving children in Somalia, emergency immunization programs to stave off deadly children's epidemics in Angola and Sierra Leone, and midwives training programs in Bosnia. https://internationalmedicalcorps.org/who-we-are/

I worked as a Program Intern in the UNICEF India Country Office in various departments including the Community Development Department under Gopalan Balagopal, who was a former UNICEF HQ Senior Advisor and Country Representative, on many initiatives including the Convention on the Rights of the Child Initiative addressing child labor in India.
