In my role as a lecturer, I am required to develop course content, address student queries, and manage a teaching team. In addition, I am also responsible for all administrative tasks associated with the courses I teach, including updating the course profile, managing the online course site, and developing, marking, and moderating assessment pieces. During my time as a research assistant, I have managed numerous projects, including developing survey instruments and interview schedules, coordinating data collection, cleaning and analysing quantitative and qualitative data, and co-authoring outputs. I have also been involved in consultancies with government agencies including police, corrective services, and the Department of Justice. Some of these more applied projects have had visible policy impacts and interest from both government agencies and the media.

During my role as a research assistant at UQ, I obtained experience in reading and interpreting various pieces of legislation and working with court documents, I completed data cleaning and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, and I managed an extensive dataset and trained other researchers on different processes related to the maintenance of the dataset. In addition, I co-authored a range of publications for academic and non-academic outputs, including journal articles, technical reports, and policy and evaluation reports.

During my role as a research assistant, I worked closely with the Chief Investigator of an evaluation of procedural justice in domestic violence-related court proceedings. I developed a survey instrument and conducted interviews with stakeholders (i.e., police; Magistrates; lawyers) and clients involved in domestic and family violence court proceedings (i.e., aggrieved parties and respondents). I was responsible for imputing, cleaning, and analysing the data. I have co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles and policy reports pertaining to the collected data.

In this role, I worked on an evaluation of a government response to alcohol-fuelled violence. I conducted observational research whereby I recorded, edited, and exported footage to document the night-life landscape of several areas in Queensland, Australia. I collected data on commercial infrastructure in several areas in Queensland to examine the extent of night-life precincts. I also conducted face-to-face surveys with patrons in Fortitude Valley to assess their level of intoxication and attitudes towards substance use, alcohol-related violence, and the State Government’s lockout laws.
