About James Harmer
I’m an IT professional who entered the workforce in my mid-30s after overcoming significant health challenges. From 2012 to 2018, I was officially disabled due to severe epilepsy, which had already led to a medical withdrawal from college in my second semester in 2007. In 2017, I underwent brain surgery, which allowed me to regain my health and independence.Following this surgery, I completed various online training programs, obtained a driver’s license for the first time in my 30s, and gained experience working part-time at a local computer store from 2018 to 2022. During this period, I also worked part-time at a grocery store and as a substitute in local school districts. Additionally, I did computer repairs, built custom computers and servers, built and maintained websites, and did studio engineering, audio editing and video editing through my own business, JH Services. My perseverance eventually paid off when I secured my first full-time job in IT in September 2022. Today, I leverage my skills and resilience to contribute effectively to my team and continuously seek opportunities for growth and learning.My journey has instilled in me a profound resilience and adaptability, making me a valuable asset to any team. The challenges I’ve faced have honed my problem-solving skills, patience, and determination, enabling me to thrive in high-pressure environments and continuously deliver exceptional results.
