­- Responsible for R&D strategy, business development and people management of the Internet of Things (IoT) programs of imec & Holst centre for (personal) health/lifestyle, automotive & smart environments. Topics include wireless systems & radar, gas and liquid sensors, sensor networks, multimodal sensor fusion & distributed machine learning.­- Direct P&L and people responsibility for ~130 researchers and ~25 MEuro in two different locations. More than 2/3 of R&D is directly funded by industry.­- Developing and maintaining business with more than 50 industrial bilateral partners worldwide, including Analog Devices, GE, Huawei, Sony, Microsemi, Omron, Philips, Panasonic, Infineon, Renesas and Samsung. Many more in government funded projects. - Building worldwide R&D partnerships in the area of IoT with large industry, SME’s, research organisations & universities­- Leader of the IoT management team, member of the imec smart electronics MT and imec-NL MT.­- Working cross-company to build multi-site, multi-group teams with clear & tangible R&D objectives­- Mentor and coach of staff, hiring and developing the best people for the job.- Post-merger integration with iMinds groups everything connected; bringing together roadmaps & groups for truly vertical solutions at higher maturity levels.

­- Responsible for the R&D strategy, business development and people management for ULP Circuits and Devices at imec & Holst centre. The program focused on building intelligent circuits and sensors for small battery operated and harvested wireless sensor devices delivering a breakthrough in low power consumption and functionality.­- P&L of approx. 15MEuro; 75 researchers and engineers over vertical disciplines: sensor technology, IC & system design and embedded SW.­- Member of MT imec-NL.­- Developed the team and the business from a small team and less than 1.4 M€ revenue to an internationally recognized R&D player with more than 25 industrial partnerships and a tenfold in revenue.

­- Account management. Set-up processes, procedures and standards to build and maintain the relationship with our bilateral partners ­- Building a healthy long-term partnership by measuring, evaluating and growing the interactions.

­- The European Microsoft Innovation Center, EMIC, was a collaborative R&D center with a 3-6 year outlook and a focus on software for mobile, enterprise and home applications. ­- Responsible for value generation for Microsoft via tech transfer & IP generation­- Ownership of the R&D roadmaps, resource allocation­- Partnership management, setup & execution of new projects- Leading the program management team (11 people), part of the MT­- Increased acceptance rate of collaborative project proposals from 15% historically to 60% in FP7 call 1

At Philips Research, I set up and managed two European projects:- Amigo, www.amigo-project.org, an industry-driven integrated project which focused on middleware, services and applications for the connected home environment. 24 M€ cost, 16 partners, duration 3.5 years.- BETSY, www.betsy-project.org, a research-oriented project which focuses on theory, models and design technology to support smooth multimedia streaming over wireless networks. 4.4 M€ cost, 8 partners, 2.5 years.My personal focus was on system aspects, hardware/software optimization and cross-layer algorithms.

­- System architect of Philips’ first Bluetooth Controller (PCF87750). ­- IC and its derivatives was sold more than 40 million times, making Philips Semiconductors nr.2 worldwide in Bluetooth modules at that point in time (2006 number). ­- Member of the standardization group.
