Acting Associate Head (International)Coventry University Nov 2017 - Dec 2018In this role, I was responsible for implementing the University's international agenda across the Law School. I established partnerships, collaborations and projects with international institutions and furthered the internationalisation of the curriculum. I worked with partners in China, Africa and Europe during this time. In doing so, I successfully increased the international output of the Law School through student mobility but also created opportunities for income generation. -

As a result, I am familiar with the challenges associated with teaching international students and the differences required in course design. I was visiting China twice a year to teach and to conduct meetings on behalf of the University with our partners.

I conducted initial interviews with clients, evaluated their evidence and prepared appropriate cases for the solicitors to advise on. Additionally, I provided email advice, conducted legal research and managed a caseload. I was able to develop an understanding of the issues effecting litigants in person and the demand that was placed on the court infrastructure as well as organisations like the Bureau. In addition, I was able to familiarise myself with other advice agencies and their processes including the Personal Support Unit, the Bar Pro Bono Unit and the Chancery Bar Litigants in Person Scheme (CLiPS). .

During this time, I also worked with local media to promote the campaigns and appeared on BBC Midlands Today. -
