We work in 20+ states to reach out to people one-on-one to raise money, recruit members, and do grassroots political work on behalf of nonprofit groups like Sierra Club, Human Rights Campaign, U.S. PIRG, state environment groups, and more.Most new staff begin as Assistant Canvass Directors. In that role, you work alongside another director to run a regional grassroots office. Assisted staff directors of the Fund (formerly FFPIR) and related organizations with personnel related issues. Responsibilities included: - working with staff directors to ensure they were conducting regular evaluations with their staff so that their staff could improve and be given more responsibility, - ensuring staff policies and benefits were administered correctly, - researching potential changes to the benefits package including health care and retirement plan options, and - ensuring personnel files were maintained.

Worked with each of more than two dozen state PIRGs on their internal administration including: - budget creation and monitoring, - maintaining financial systems (primarily using QuickBooks), - corporate record keeping, and - the filing of appropriate tax and corporation reports.

Assisted the Director of PIRG Development to run trainings, coordinate meetings, track goals and performance, and work with the state PIRGs (Public Interest Research Groups) in their planning.
