About Harrison Lee

Hello! I am currently a 3rd Year Mechanical Engineering undergraduate at UC Berkeley and am deeply interested in Aerospace & Aeronautical industries. I have a strong passion for all things aerospace: aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, control algorithms and manufacturing processes just to name a few. I am well-versed in simulation software such as Solidworks and MATLAB, and possess hands-on experience in both research and manufacturing that will prove valuable to any organization. I also enjoy hands-on experimentation and like working on craft projects in my spare time (rockets, keychains, etc.)I am an avid learner and am always willing to undertake new experiences. Let's have a chat!

  • Space Technologies And Rocketry (Star)
    Deputy Airframe Manager
Space Technologies And Rocketry (Star) Dec 2022 - Present
    Berkeley, California, United States
I lead the airframe design and manufacturing for UC Berkeley's Stage Separation Vehicle to be used in the premier annual intercollegiate rocketry competition -- Spaceport America Cup 2024.
  • Space Technologies And Rocketry (Star)
    Airframe Engineer
Space Technologies And Rocketry (Star) Aug 2022 - Dec 2022
    Berkeley, California, United States
I assisted in airframe manufacturing for UC Berkeley's first Minimum Diameter (MINDI) rocket. We were a small team of ~20 people who built, tested, integrated and launched a rocket within the semester -- setting new college altitude record of 14,325 feet!
  • Dsta
    Flight Control Engineer
    Dsta May 2023 - Aug 2023
    Singapore, Singapore
I created a true-scale 3D CAD model of an aircraft and leveraged on Computational Fluid Dynamics to determine the aerodynamic properties of the aircraft. I conducted ~100 numerical analysis tests on Solidworks Flow Simulations to achieve this. With these results, I applied a complex mathematical model to describe the flight behavior of the aircraft over time. Using Simulink, I created a closed-loop control system that is able to control the aircraft behavior in simulations in response to different control surface inputs.
  • Stoke Space
    Hardware Design Engineer
    Stoke Space Jan 2023 - May 2023
    Seattle, Washington, United States
Our team of 5 developed a comprehensive Concept of Operations (CONOPs) to guide Stoke's entry into the $2.9B orbital downmass market. We brainstormed hardware ideas and designed prototypes to be implemented on board Stoke's second stage spacecraft, that would allow Stoke to augment its rockets with orbital downmass capabilities.
  • Stoke Space
    Market Research Consultant
    Stoke Space Aug 2022 - Jan 2023
    Berkeley, California, United States
Our team conducted market research for Stoke Space (a Series A startup in NewSpace with valuation of $76M) in the specific industries of orbital manufacturing, satellite servicing and supply chain logistics. I performed a competitive analysis on the current technologies to determine if it was economically viable for Stoke to enter the market for orbital hardware return.
  • Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
    Satellite Hardware Engineer
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Aug 2022 - May 2023
    Berkeley, California, United States
I was a member of Project CuRIOS, which aims to launch a constellation of ~15 small satellites by 2026 to lead the search for interstellar micro-black holes. I conducted validation tests on the IMX455 CMOS sensor housed in a APX60 camera, which will eventually be incorporated into all satellites.
  • Dsta
    Sonar Ai Researcher
    Dsta Mar 2021 - Jun 2021
    Singapore
I leveraged on machine learning techniques to classify various underwater targets (divers, unmanned craft, marine life) from sonar data. I first applied generative adversarial networks to grow my dataset by ~20x, and then tuned various classification algorithms to enhance accuracy, improving the predictive capabilities of sonar by up to 18%.
