I was first-aid trained to help with any occurring accidents and also, as it was our duty to be supportive and listen to any mental health issues, forms were a natural part of the role (incident, accident & safeguarding forms). Learning from incidents and approaching similar, future situations differently was a skill I developed. Teaching and leading was a major part of the role and so I believe I have grown more confident in my presentation abilities and in my team management skills.• As a camp cook, time management was key and I often worked under pressure to independently cook, clean and serve food for up to 120 people. Following out safety procedures properly was paramount; temperature and food storage checks and avoiding cross contamination due to dietary requirements. Focus was important. Both roles were 16 hour shifts and it was a common occurrence to have go without breaks to make sure the day runs smoothly. In the night, if a problem arose, it was my job to help try and fix it, therefore sacrificing even my sleep. So, would I feel exhausted after any camp? Yes. Have I still loved the job? Of course! Even though the nature of the work is very physically demanding, I have built up a strong physical and mental endurance. Being an activity leader for thousands of past children has been incredibly rewarding. It has given me a passion to work hard and so I feel ready to take on any challenge given to me and do my very best. Show less

On arrival, guests would be met by myself and my team smiling and welcoming them to their holiday. I'd help with any bags and show them to their coach. From there, once I'd made sure I had all the correct passengers on board my coach, we would set off enroute to the resort as I gave all relevant arrival information (hotels and check-in procedures), also starting off Christmas songs for guests to join in with.
