I worked part time as a teaching assistant for CPSC 320: Intermediate Algorithm Design and Analysis, for 3 academic terms over 10 months. Algorithms are important, and understanding them well makes you a better programmer, so helping others build that understanding is a great feeling.My tasks included designing and running tutorials, hosting office hours, assisting in lecture, invigilating exams, and testing exams for difficulty and length.

I was lucky enough to spend another 2 months at Visier Inc. as a Build Engineer Coop this summer. The focus through my term was lowering Build cost, improving user friendliness, along with usual bug fixing and refactoring work.

On the continuous integration side, I contributed new features for Jenkins build pipelines, Docker containers, Bitbucket plugins, and Gradle tasks. For developer enablement, I owned an internal tool that produced a diff between a developer database's content and a baseline set of insert statements. The tool then outputs the diff as insert statements, so developers can easily make changes to the baseline developer environment. I turned this proof of concept script into a proper Jenkins pipeline, along with automatic pull request creation and Slack communication. Worked to automate patch validation and regression tests using the Selenium library in Scala. This involved writing test suites for new features, maintaining existing tests, parallelizing existing tests to significantly decrease test run time, and reporting application bugs along with verifying their fixes after developer resolution. I also worked to enable testing for others, by improving the test framework for our api tests and facilitating changes to our test environment.
