In August and September, I worked a 6 week contract with Elizabeth’s Embroideries in Stockton to help the store deal with the back to school rush. I was responsible for a huge range of tasks including personally assisting customers and helping them to choose the most suited products, managing incoming and outgoing orders passing through the store, processing exchanges along with returns, and restocking racks with items from the stockroom, in order to make the shop floor as professional and as neat as possible. This job allowed me to gain experience working in a larger business that, at times, would be incredibly busy and require me to undertake multiple tasks at once in order to help customers and my colleagues.

From June up until August, I worked in a local cafe primarily as a front of house staff member. This job allowed me to develop a lot of valuable skills, especially my ability to work under pressure as it could get quite busy and there were only a handful of staff members. It also allowed me to improve my communication with customers, and with my peers. I was also responsible for ensuring the cafe’s cleanliness was maintained, and up to coronaviru guidelines that were in place at the time.
