How does someone get into recruitment is a question I am asked often. It wasn't my dream job or something I even considered when I was younger. So how did I get to where I am today?During the pandemic, my aspirations of joining the banking world were shattered when my internship at Barclays was moved online and shortened to 6 weeks rather than 9. I suffered tech issues that were left unresolved which ultimately led to a poor experience and me not getting an offer for the Barclays graduate scheme I had hoped to join.Left disheartened, I had to reassess what I wanted from a career, and for the first time in my life I didn't have a clear plan. I travelled around Europe on an interrailing trip (a much needed break), networked with connections gained over the years, and made the decision to look for roles that gave the opportunity to collaborate with others and make use of my people skills that I had always stressed were my best quality.I did what many others have, and stumbled into recruitment. I can only stress how glad I am that I did. My role at Kiwi allows me to collaborate with like minded people, build relations with industry leaders, and put those people skills to good use. I look forward to a long career at Kiwi, and have aspirations to build Personal brand, grow my network, and continue to help those looking for jobs in a time where this is more difficult than ever before.
