Dr. Harry Edelman is an enthusiast and a tenacious doer in strategic design, innovations, multidisciplinary research and design on sustainable built environment, city development, and new business development. Current R&D work focuses on autonomous aerial systems for scalable logistics and data collection solutions that enable sustainable and resilient services in the built environment. Harry conducted his doctoral research on integrated urban solutions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2005-2007 as a Research Fellow. The time at MIT provided him a unique insight into the importance of multidisciplinary approaches in solving global challenges such sustainability and climate change. In 2007 he kick-started his first company Edelman Group providing expert advice and design services for resilient and value-adding real estate and city development projects. He continuous to have several professional affiliations in cross-disciplinary teams. Since 2013 he served as the Professor of Sustainable Design and Development at Tampere University of Technology and continuous to work on the topics related to the sustainability. Currently Harry serves as part-time head of research in Tampere University and Turku University of Applied Sciences. His research groups have a track record of multidisciplinary research projects including real estate economics, nature based solutions, energy, and machine learning with a total value of over 6 MEUR. In addition to his academic career Harry works as an entrepreneur and developer of new businesses.
