In 1991, Michael Hindman separated from Hermes and aquired the assets of their Nashville office, which he had operated since 1987. It is at this time that H. Michael Hindman Architects was born. I continued to hone my craft at Hermes & Reed for four years. It was some time after that when another mentor, Bob Bellomy, allowed me to gain expereince in his CAD department learning Autocad. It is a tool I still use daily, although it has come a long way since those days. Allowing a novice to sit down at a CAD station and start working on a (very) small project is something I will always appreciate. In 1995, it was time for a change and we headed to Tennessee. It was a hard decision to leave Hermes and my colleagues there. A lot of the realtionships I developed there also continue to this day.

Hermes Reed Hindman Architects is where I developed and honed my craft. Leroy Hermes, Steve Reed and my mentor, Herb Kellner, taught me the nuts and bolts of architecture, and how a building was put together. While at Hermes and Reed, I worked on every type of retail project imaginable. I owe a lot to this firm, for teaching me my craft. They helped me develop into the professional I am today.Hermes & Reed is also where I started working with Michael Hindman and Bob Thorn. This is where our friendships began, and continues to this day. I also owe this to Hermes & Reed.

I started working for Richard Fitzgerald right out of college. This is where I started learning my craft. While there, I had the opportunity to work on various types of projects, from industrial service centers to high end office buildings and a museum. Although I was only part of a team, I am particularly proud that I was able to work on projects associated with world famous architects. These architects included Phillip Johnson, I. M. Pei, Charles Moore and Renzo Piano. Richard Fitzgerald and his team gave me a good foundation to stand on as I moved forward. I also developed long term relationships that continue to this day.
