A 7-month traineeship in the highest decision making body of the European Space Agency, the Strategy Department of the Director General's cabinet. I assisted with drafting weekly reports for the director general and directors, shadowed senior policy makers in their work on member states relations, attended meetings with national delegates, and created socio-economic indicators to be used by the Agency, as well as related reports. I assisted with drafting weekly reports for the director general and directors, shadowed senior policy makers in their work on member states relations, attended meetings with national delegates, and created socio-economic indicators to be used by the Agency, as well as related reports. I managed the department's participation to the '3rd ESG' workshop by organising the working group on space and cybersecurity and the resulting report. Finally, I worked on knowledge management by updating the Member States Relations and Partnerships office's intranet pages, and an online ESA projects catalogue. I worked extensively with Microsoft Office to draft reports, work on Excel databases, and create presentations. Overall, the traineeship has equipped me with policy, administrative, and research skills in an international, multilingual environment where diplomacy and tact with high-level stakeholders are essential. In the year 2016-17, our 7-member committee achieved:- The organisation of successful lectures, debates and seminars to inform on a wide-range of topics (such as Brexit, European integration, the future of the EU, the 2017 French Elections), with the participation of high-profile speakers from a variety of backgrounds (civil-servants, academics, politicians, Think Tanks, NGOs...).- The creation of social and cultural events which were fun, inclusive and fully representative of European diversity. - The organisation of the European Week, an annual week-long conference at KCL sponsored by the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (JMCE). - Expanded social media presence through clever marketing, with a 48% increase in followers on our Facebook page.
