Senior Business Broker
CurrentThe core task of an ABS Business Broker is to sell businesses for our clients. That is what we do. How we go about doing that will depend on the circumstances of our clients.Ideally there should be a sharing of mutual expectations. No broker wants to undertake a task as important as selling someones business if they do not believe in their heart that they can accomplish the task.Where the greatest success has occurred is where a professional and methodical process is followed. This typically begins with a discussion with the business owner and an assessment of the business. One of the valuable contributions I have been able to make to business owners is to provide a written proposal containing an appraisal of the business with an analysis aimed at either suggesting what needs to occur to prepare the business for sale or a strategy for the sale of the business along with a sensible listing price.I have been able to utilise the very valuable skills that were acquired by becoming a Registered Business Valuer with the Australian Institute of Business Brokers to provide this service. This qualification enables me to provide an opinion of value of an enterprise that can be defended in a court of law. I have used the skills acquired during this training to provide a cost effective service to clients who do not require the degree of rigour required to avoid being outwitted by a barrister. The greatest degree of satisfaction has come from being able to provide a realistic price range for a business and to map out a pathway for a business owning client to exit a business and then making that happen. The clients I usually see have their hands full running a business and while they are sophisticated in the way they operate the business they usually need a hand up when it comes to finding a way out of it.I describe myself as a specialist generalist. It's the process that gets the result, regardless of the business.
