From the geological hotspots of eastern Australia and Indonesia, Harvey Ryan has been at the cutting edge of field management and mobile data collection for over 40 years. He has led and delivered on significant projects and product developments, and software innovation, and has always been guided by the principle of ‘customer first’. Harvey’s success is epitomised by his early adoption of computer tech, running 3D resource models in the early days of Windows Desktop. 3D modelling for mining was way ahead of anything else happening then and Harvey built models of both the Gympie and Bendigo goldfields that were industry-leading at the time. Next on the agenda was working with MapInfo GIS to enhance its capabilities for the mining industry and then to expand into other markets. Harvey helped create GBM Mobile (the forerunner of GBM Konect) and took this to local government, a logical market for GIS, and mobile computing. Harvey subsequently developed an international reseller network for GBM Mobile, and then took the lead on Konect’s product development; delivering a powerful, customisable and sophisticated system that is eclipsing its competitors. These days, Harvey is both a Director of Global GBM, and Director and Principal Consultant for Tecktrum Services, a value-added reseller for Konect with a strong focus on telecommunication and the NBN rollout.
