Having played a key role in establishment of NPS operations in Iraq, I am currently the financial controller for Iraq operations, reporting to Iraq VP and the Group CFO. HOTWELL Handelsgesellschaft m.b.H. is the manufacturing arm of NPS specializing in manufacturing and sale of well logging equipment and log analysis. Reporting to the Hotwell CEO and the NPS Group CFO, my major responsibilities included: > International trade finance and negotiation of letters of credit > International tax planning, tax filings and compliance with special focus on VAT and transfer pricing > Integration of operations and management of change> Financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting> Operations support, contract review and bid evaluation > Consolidation and management financial reporting

Leading the tax planning and fiscal compliance functions for all the corporate entities under Schlumberger Pakistan, reporting directly to Country Manager and Geo Market Tax Manager. Pakistan being one of the most complex tax environments, gave me an invaluable experience in understanding taxation strategies and procedures. As Tax Manager my main responsibilities included:> International tax planning and periodic review of tax planning strategy> Tax and fiscal compliance and statutory reporting > Internal controls and SOX compliance > Operations support, contract review and bid evaluation Notable achievements: > Collection of cash refund of USD 3.5 million withholding tax > Successful defense of withholding tax dispute with the income tax department before the High Court. Cash refund USD 1.5 million> Settlement of long outstanding customs cases > Optimization of legal entity structure in Pakistan > Introduced and implemented SOX Compliance procedures in Pakistan and was the focal point for coordinating the SOX audit by PwC – New York. Quartely SOX compliance review.> Implementation of ERP (Lawson) in Pakistan and continued support to local staff after roll out.

As senior associate at PwC my main responsibilities included: > Planning, execution and completion of audit and assurance engagements> Establishment of internal control environment, preparation of internal control manuals and subsequent review of effectiveness and efficiency of internal control policies> Reporting to group auditors on early warning information, year end issues memorandum, internal control memorandum and group consolidation forms, ensuring adherence to internal control policies and generally accepted accounting principles> Review of compliance with code of good corporate governance > Preparation and review of corporate and personnel annual income tax returns > Planning and allocation of personnel (approx. 120 staff members) to various assignments> Conducting trainings and seminars for staff
