About Hatem Zayed

International development practitioner and researcher, with over a decade of experience in civil society strengthening, education, gender, governance, and accountability. My research expertise spans diverse domains, including civic space, international aid, and peacebuilding and humanitarian intervention – with multiple academic publications in these areas. I have played pivotal roles in various local and international NGOs in Egypt, with notable leadership as the former director of the Monitoring and Evaluation unit at CARE International in Egypt. I also served as an independent consultant for numerous prominent international and local development organizations. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated technical excellence and leadership in research and M&E roles, overseeing data collection, management, and analysis. I hold a PhD and MPhil in International Relations from the School of International Service at American University, as well as an MA in Development Studies from the American University in Cairo.
