After almost 4 years working as a medical assistant I applied to nursing school to expand my scope of practice and better serve the community. My heart still lies in primary care, building patient-centered medical homes, and community health. I love working in the community and building relationships with patients and other providers. My best healthcare work experiences have resulted from working on interprofessional and interdisciplinary teams with mutual respect and just culture. I hope to continue working in these kinds of environments because of the benefits to both patients and staff. I am interested in preventative medicine and health promotion, chronic disease management, racial equity and health disparities, LGBTQ+ healthcare, evidence-based practice, PDSA cycles and quality improvement, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care. Outside of work my hobbies include trying out new recipes, hiking around the PNW, and reading.
