At ERM Consultants Canada Ltd. (formerly Rescan), I managed the Publishing Group (comprising Coordinators, Graphic Designers, and Technical Editors), which was responsible for the publication and delivery of external communications and publications in Canada. Our work included proposal development, public relations and plain-language summaries of technical material, multi-volume Applications for Environmental Assessments, and graphic design and video projects. Our work reached a broad range of audiences, project stakeholders, Government, and the general public. Our work was strategic and audience-focused, designed to ensure that our audiences understood the scientific issues related to the projects that impact them.

At Tetra Tech Wardrop, I managed the Publishing Group, which was responsible for the publication and regulatory review of National Instrument 43-101 technical reports. Together, the group and I produced hundreds of reports for clients such as Cameco, Goldcorp, Teck, Seabridge Gold, Terrane Metals, American Manganese, Northern Dynasty, Pretium Resources, Victory Nickel, Victoria Gold, and Copper Fox. I continuously managed internal team resources and deployed them on projects across Canada and around the world. I developed a detailed set of scheduling templates, workflows, and collaboration standards designed to rapidly advance projects toward completion, while meeting quality assurance standards and regulatory compliance. I developed the company’s first Editorial Style Guide, Report Formatting Guide, Report Coordination Procedures, and submission guidelines for external parties. I also developed technical writing and presentation courses that I delivered to staff across Canada.

Even Technologies was high-tech company specializing in proprietary image compression technologies for a wide array of industries, including the IPTV industry. At Even, I developed and managed the company’s end-user technical documentation, and designed all of the company’s marketing collaterals, including spec sheets, brochures, and interactive CD-ROMs. I developed the company’s Logo and Marks Usage Guidelines, and spearheaded a comprehensive re- branding project.

This position at the world’s largest industrial auctioneer involved managing several large-scale communications projects, maintaining the company’s intranet, developing media kits and press material, writing proposals and presentations, spearheading email marketing programs, and writing manuals, brochures, industry editorials and case studies. I also performed plenty of media and public relations duties, and was responsible for coordinating the majority of the organization’s media coverage.

I was responsible for the creative and technical production of several television shows. I frequently directed live and taped productions, produced bumpers, special segments, and PSAs. I created, developed, produced and directed two popular television shows: Footnotes (a show about music and musicians in the Kingston area) and Feedback Live (a live current-events show hosted by former Globe & Mail Managing Editor Norris MacDonald).
