As a PhD candidate at the Australian National University in Canberra, I am dedicated to advancing the field of organic chemistry through innovative research and enthusiastic teaching.My research focuses on developing novel methods for the late-stage modification of peptide therapeutics, with a particular interest in the synthesis of lasso peptide mimetics. These molecules exhibit remarkable properties, including heat and enzymatic resistance, and hold great promise for various therapeutic applications. My recent work on the late-stage macrocyclisation and stapling of peptides was published in the Journal of Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry (Org. Biomol. Chem., 2022, 20, 6250-6256).In addition to my research endeavors, I am passionate about teaching chemistry. With years of experience as a demonstrator in undergraduate labs, I excel at simplifying complex concepts and fostering student growth. I find immense satisfaction in witnessing the growth of students' knowledge as they grasp challenging topics and thrive in their academic journeys. During my own undergraduate studies, I thoroughly enjoyed studying in groups and helping others prepare for exams and assignments. Teaching others often reinforces my own understanding of complex topics.At several academic conferences, I have presented my research through engaging poster presentations and one-on-one discussions with expert peers in chemistry and biology. These interactions have allowed me to showcase my PhD findings and receive valuable feedback and insights from leaders in the field. A highlight of my speaking engagements was delivering an invited talk at the Merck Online Symposium 2022, where I communicated my research findings to an audience of both industry and academic professionals, showcasing my ability to tailor my message to different audiences while maintaining clarity and impact.Beyond academia, I have a keen interest in diverse scientific fields, including particle physics, astronomy, and materials science. My enthusiasm for astrophotography has allowed me to capture the beauty of celestial bodies with exquisite detail, providing a unique connection to the cosmos that complements my scientific pursuits.Driven by relentless curiosity and a commitment to excellence, I am eager to contribute to the scientific community and inspire future generations of researchers and scholars.
