As the Service Team VP I led a team of 32 members in planning and organizing service opportunities. Our team partnered with 20 different non-profit organizations within Davis and Weber County. The Service Team also planned service trips to New Orleans, Guatemala and Mozambique, Africa. Our goal was to create community engaged opportunities for WSU students to participate in. Knowing that not only would our community be positively impacted, but also our volunteers. Position accomplishments and responsibilities:- Interview and select a team of 30+ individuals- Create a team of cohesiveness, adaptability, and creativity- Plan, organize and lead weekly one-hour trainings/team planning sessions-Brainstorm service opportunities that would meet the needs of the community and engage Weber State University students- Conduct performance reviews with all 32 team members and provide constructive feedback- Participate in executive student board meetings that coordinate diversity, leadership, activities, and clubs & organizationA big accomplishment for me in this role was the creation of WSU Service Team Instagram page - @wsuccel. This page allowed us to connect, and mass communicate to students who were interested in finding service opportunities but weren’t sure where to look. I worked with three different families completing various tasks, such as tutoring, cleaning, managing schedules and providing educational and fun activities for the kids. I cultivated an atmosphere in each home that allowed the kids to recognize their talents and learn something new each day. I watched a total of ten kids, ages 1 month – 12 years old. This job allowed me to put myself through college.
