Based in the Communication and Engagement department, I work with a small team to ensure our existing and new digital experiences and products empower citizens and communities and enhance trust and confidence in Auckland Council. This can mean working on and managing new digital projects; managing and improving existing products; further developing our digital offerings; and helping grow our digital brand. As the Online Communications Specialist for Auckland Council Leisure, I set the digital direction for the council-managed pools and leisure centres around Auckland. Over 11 months in a newly-formed team, I developed and implemented a digital channel strategy that reflected the amalgamation of 24 pools and leisure centres, advised the lead team and managers on optimum use of digital channels, and managed the growth and direction of digital channels, including websites, social media, blogs, EDMs and intranet. This role culminated in leading the project to deliver a new customer-centric, mobile-friendly website for Auckland Council Pools and Leisure, which was successfully delivered to meet tight deadline and budget constraints.

The Kiwi Club of New York, Inc. is a non-profit organization holding social and networking events for New Zealanders in the New York area. As a board member, I helped organise events and looked after the club's online communications (oh, and also took orders for sweets and Watties sauce whenever I returned to NZ).

While based in New York City I worked with startups and corporate, government and creative clients, advising on and implementing digital communications development and strategy on their behalf. I also managed projects, media, copy and content production and events for some of these clients - including, memorably, helping pull together New York City's first screening of The Hobbit!

Client management, copywriting, content production, and communications at a boutique marketing agency, working with high-end lifestyle brands and leading publications, including Harper's Bazaar, Good Housekeeping, The Times of London, and Cosmopolitan. During my time at Timscris I increased turnover from all accounts I managed, including one account by 71% in one year. I also worked with several clients on developing their digital presence and expanding their traditional offerings. My favourite of these was bringing Good Housekeeping and Le Creuset together to make a new Le Creuset range available to Good Housekeeping subscribers before anyone else in the UK.
