Trade association representing New Jersey’s research-based pharmaceutical and medical technology companies. Lobby legislative and administration officials. Provide expertise on public policy and political issues and serve as liaison and advisor to 26 member companies and external industry stakeholders. Manage HINJ Steering Committee. Serve as Budget Director, managing $1.3 million annual budget and all association business and personnel matters. Performance Highlights:• Created the New Jersey Life Sciences Vendors Alliance to enhance and expand the footprint of the pharmaceutical and medical technology industry in New Jersey. Designated by PhRMA (national trade association of leading research-based pharmaceutical companies) as an industry best practice. • Developed industry-wide philanthropy program, including establishing a partnership with Reach Out and Read (ROR), a national early childhood literacy program. Raised $300,000 to support New Jersey Reach Out and Read providers; delivered more than 100,000 new children’s books to participating New Jersey pediatricians, clinics and hospitals; and helped build statewide ROR infrastructure and double the number of providers in the program and children served. • Drafted legislation which was adopted by AdvaMed (national trade association for the medical technology industry) as model state legislation for the oversight and regulation of reprocessed single-use medical devices. Legislation introduced in New Jersey legislature and elsewhere. Led to NJ Department of Health to revise adverse event reporting form.• Provided legislative expertise and guidance to rare disease community, including rewriting legislation and negotiating amendments, to establish a State Rare Disease Advisory Council. Legislation successfully enacted in 2021.

Hired to develop and manage legislation to address critical state issues. Recruited back to serve as senior aide to the Speaker of the Assembly and lead staff in developing legislative, communication and constituent outreach strategies. Performance Highlights:• Director, Office of the Speaker of the General Assembly, supervising nine-member staff. Managed Speaker’s legislative initiatives, facilitated outreach activities and served as public policy advisor and liaison to legislative and external parties. • Researched and co-authored report on status of New Jersey’s manufacturing sector. Report became basis for caucus’s legislative agenda to improve New Jersey’s business climate. • Managed key issues to successful passage including school funding, brownfields remediation, electric power deregulation and casino-hotel deregulation.

Recruited to leverage knowledge of the New Jersey legislature, public policy and New Jersey politics to manage government relations and political programs for more than 25 clients. Lobbied legislators, administration officials and key staff members. Developed strategic plans of action to attain clients’ legislative, administrative and regulatory objectives. Performance Highlights:• Successfully represented clients, including MetLife, MCI, NJ Society of Athletic Trainers, New JerseyApartment Association, NJ Restaurant Association and NJ Driving School Association in achieving their public policy objectives.• Significantly improved office efficiency and productivity by defining job descriptions, hiring appropriate staff and establishing operational protocols.
