Take part in developing, maintaining vxWorks ARINC 653 embedded Real Time OS for the Safety and Critical DO-178B Certified Applications.Examples of achievements:1) Played the critical role in the team to successfully fulfill the milestone application in Boeing 787 project.2) Solved many high-stake, critical customer issues in time.3) Implemented a h/w data break point feature in the simplest, most reliable way.4) Developed a bootrom loader simulator, making debugging, testing in bootrom much easier.5) Ported the OS to a new CPU only in 4 weeks.

Took part in developing SIP, Session Initiation Protocol RFC3261, inter-mediate system which brokers services in VoIP, Voice over IP.Examples of achievements:1) Overhauled Service Distribution Manager module, making it the fastest & most reliable process, consuming less than 5% CPU time at 50 call per second rate.2) Developed a SUBSCRIBE/NOTIFY, RFC3265 application without even a single defect reported from the Quality Assurance after the delivery.3) Created a state machine based program flow to control the core of the VoIP call setup system.

Developed the device drivers running in vxWorks on strongARM, MIPS CPUs to support the Solidum network processing ASIC chip. These drivers were either PCI or SRAM slow port based. Examples of achievements:1) Ported Solidum software suite and TCL into the embedded Linux on Intel IXDP system. Also ported the software suite into vxWorks running on strongARM.2) Developed an auto regression test in OS9, involving a TCP socket process in OS9 as the server and Linux socket binaries, bash shell scripts as clients. 3) Developed a socket application in vxWorks to configure the chip from a remote Graphic User Interface in Linux.4) Modified Intel IXP1200 microcode to help debug a packet loss problem.5) Improved the Smartbit network test device client driver in netBSD to achieve Gigabit rate, used to test the chip by the hardware group.

Developed the core software running on the Empowertel Networks' ASIC chip to control the media gateway in VoIP, Voice over IP.Examples of achievements:1) Achieved a DS3, duplex 672 channel capacity at 2 millisecond TDM data packetization in VoIP, This was a hard target due to the slow 100 MHz MIPS CPU cores in the ASIC, but achieved thanks to innovations of 2) & 3).2) Invented a non-wrapping algorithm in the TDM to IP data path. Wrapping is unavoidable for a limited memory space to continuously buffer TDM channel data for the periodic IP packetization. However, the wrapping was made disappeared to the packetization hardware in any packet size.3) Invented a simple algorithm to place IP payload into a limited length jitter buffer. This was in the IP to TDM data path. This algorithm did not use multiplication and division, 2 very costly operations for a 100 MHz CPU and used only few additions and subtractions to deal with out-of-order, jittering, silence suppression and packet loss cases. This scheme was proven dramatically simple, effective and robust.4) Developed parts of the VoIP gateway Hardware Abstract Layer in C++.5) Developed a tool in C to test the VoIP core process, using a T1, DS3 analyzer.

A member of the vxWorks RTOS kernel team.Examples of performance.1) Defused in Dec 1998 a customer crisis with the then newly shipped I-SCSI hard disks on the Passport 30 switches, prevented some contract losses.2) Modified and improved VxWorks kernel running on numerous Passport control and data path line cards with Intel i960 and PPC750 CPUs.3) Maintained, modified VxWorks DOS file system to improve performance and fault tolerance.4) Improved the SFS, Shadowed File System, sync performance, cutting the sync time from 5-6 minutes to about 3 seconds after a whole shelf reboot in Passport switches.
