Duties/Responsibilities:Assist with and lead design of prototype equipment used for mineral separation as follows:• Design and development of a laboratory scale ultra fine grinding mill weighing 1.5t, used for grinding mineral from 6mm particle size down to <5µm with low specific energy consumption. Used for testing samples in house sent to us by clients.• Design and development of a production scale ultra fine grinding mill weighing 10t used for grinding mineral from 20mm particle size down to <5µm with low specific energy consumption. Installed on clients site and undergoing trials.• Development and commission of a centrifugal jig which spins at 25Hz producing forces of 40g combined with a pulsating mechanism operating at 2000Hz used for separating high sg mineral.• Developed a Linear WHIMS Matrix Testing Separator, this machine utilises electro magnetic forces along with segmented salient plate design to separate iron ore mineral.• Development of MIMS machine, this machine uses rear earth magnets attached to an inner drum which is held stationery whilst the outer drum rotates around it, magnetic particles are held to the drum as they pass the magnetic array, then separated.• Responsible for design and obtaining engineering certification of support structures for all separating equipment designed.• Responsible for equipment selection based on availability and being cost effective.• Preparing detailed mechanical drawings for both quotation and manufacturing. • Source suppliers for quotation and manufacture of various types of equipment.• Active role in project reviews, project meetings, risk assessment, maintainability, hazard analysis, operability, model reviews and commissioning of machinery
