Principal Investigator: Robert W. Levenson, Ph.D.• Research Focus: 1) Socio-emotional functioning in neurodegenerative disease patients and caregivers and associations with close relationships, mental health, and well-being. 2) Relationship satisfaction and emotional functioning across the lifespan of healthy long-term married couples.• Research Tasks: Coded shared positive affect and behavioral synchrony during a conversation surrounding an area of conflict for 180+ pairs of dementia patients and caregivers; confirmed the contact and mortality information of 70+ long-term married couples for an extension of a longitudinal study; and audited lab materials for 540+ dementia patient and caregiver pairs.• Data Experience: Recorded, tracked, and cleaned survey responses across 5 timepoints through Qualtrics and R for a longitudinal study of 400+ participants; oversaw the creation and organization of 19 datasets of 400+ variables through Qualtrics and SPSS; and co-created data analysis plans, conducted reliability analyses and merged and scored data through R and SPSS for 2 text analysis projects. • Management Experience: Co-led a team of 5 research assistants in a text analysis project on pronoun usage in 440+ conversation transcripts across 3 participant cohorts; spearheaded the reorganization of data collection and live-session surveys, served as a participant contact, and communicated with study collaborators for a remote emotion assessment study; helped interview 9 volunteer research assistants and 3 candidates for a full-time lab opening; and taught and supervised a team of 9 research assistants in an SPSS data organization project involving 3 cohorts of participant data collected across 20 years.

Principal Investigators: Andrea Chronis-Tuscano, Ph.D. and Mark A. Stein, Ph.D.• Research Focus: The effectiveness, feasibility, and acceptability of two treatments for ADHD in multiplex families recruited from a community-based sample for hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial.• Research Tasks: Visit 2 pediatric primary care clinics to network with medical providers, restock recruitment materials, and enter patient data; schedule participant assessments; coordinate remote parent-child interactions via zoom; conduct pre-eligibility phone screens with interested families; compose IRB modifications and implement approved protocol changes; and assist with DSMB and NIH annual progress reports.• Data Experience: Generate monthly recruitment reports for check-ins with pediatricians from 2 partnering clinics; track and ensure the collection of survey and assessment data across three follow-up timepoints via REDCap; and conduct REDCap audits and produce data reports.• Management Experience: Interviewed 2 volunteer research assistants; assisted with the training of 4 research assistants and onboarding of 2 part-time study coordinators; and lead biweekly cross-site coordinator and weekly cross-site team meetings.

Phuong, M.A. and Judy Nguyen, M.A.• Research Focus: The impact of an adaptive equity-oriented pedagogy (AEP) on students’ academic achievement and psychosocial outcomes (i.e., motivation, reduced stereotype threat, growth mindset, self-efficacy, sense of belonging) in the context of a university-level humanities course and a university-level STEM course.• Research Tasks: Digitized and co-designed weekly formative assessments (i.e., pre- and post-tests) and course feedback forms for 6 university classrooms; recorded and deductively and inductively coded classroom observation notes; and implemented AEP in 2 classroom sections of a university-level STEM course.• Data Experience: Co-led our data entry and scoring teams; used Stata to generate research reports of weekly data collected from classroom formative assessments and course feedback forms; communicated classroom themes found in our data during weekly teaching consultations with 8 university instructors.• Management Experience: Oversaw research design and implementation; assisted in securing lab grants; co-led project groups and the occasional lab meeting; co-wrote conference; recruited and interviewed 5 new lab members; recruited students for our study by advertising our course on popular student Facebook pages; and reorganized our lab norms and google drive.
