Although graduating with a degree in Speech Language Pathology, my journey went a different direction. I had the opportunity to work as an Activity Facilitator in a geriatric behavioral health unit known as St. Patrick's. This job was very rewarding on a daily basis. I survived a company change and was hired as the Medical Records Director for Allegiance Healthcare. I handled paper charts during this time. I do have to say, electronic records is the way to go. As my journey continued, I was called to New Day Recovery as a receptionist. Yes, over qualified, but very humbling. I mastered the operations of both inpatient and outpatient treatment. I was later promoted to Treatment Center Director where I ran a seperate office called New Way, and I Co-managed the Intensive Outpatient Program with the IOP Director to incorporate medication assisted therapy (MAT) while clients were continuing to receive counseling. Through all these trials, errors, and victories comes a time when things don't seem to go as planned. But, God always has a reason and I am patiently/impatiently waiting to see what that is. I have almost 10 years experience in behavioral health whether it be from a therapeutic side or administrative side, but above all I possess wonderful leadership and customer service skills. My journey has continued in serving those with addiction and mental health disorders at Epiphany Health in Monroe, LA.
