Other projects included a research cruise off the Channel Islands to collect biological samples from deepwater oil and gas seeps (using the famous Alvin submarine!), a trip to the North Pacific Gyre to examine the extent and ecological effects of marine debris, and a review of the history, politics, social dynamics, and ecological effects, as well as a cost/benefit analysis of restoring the Golden Horn estuary in Istanbul, Turkey. -
