Specialty Insurance Consultants, LLC provides tailored insurance programs to companies in outdoor recreation, shooting sports, guest ranches, hunt lodges, southern plantations, destination resorts, & manufacturers of firearms, ammunition & sporting goods.Heather started her specialty insurance career in 1995 at Gillingham & Associates, working in a dual capacity as an underwriting assistant and retail producer for outdoor related business throughout the United States. She took that experience to Insurance Management Associates in 1998, where she built one of the largest portfolios of retail outdoor business in the US, before taking a brief pause from the business to raise her two children. Heather returned to the industry to start Outdoor Insurance Group (OIG), where she continued her tradition of client advocacy and customer service to the outdoor industry. In 2009, Heather sold to the agency and pursued other specialty insurance opportunities. Her love and enjoyment for outdoor recreation led her back to form another agency focused on a "hands-on" approach to service and the creation of new outdoor insurance programs. Heather's exposure to both the underwriting and sales side of the industry provides a unique perspective that she puts to work for her clients every day. Understanding how insurance companies evaluate and price risk allows her to deliver the most comprehensive and competitive options to her clients, and gives her an advantage when negotiating with company underwriters. Heather is a mother of two teenagers, and an avid outdoor enthusiast. She has trolled the waters of the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, fly fished the streams and rivers of the Rocky Mountains, New Zealand and Argentina, hunted upland, waterfowl and big game throughout North America, and is routinely found hiking, camping, skiing and exploring with her family outside of their homes in Washington, Kansas and Colorado, which helps foster her relationship with her audience.

Created specialty programs for a variety of outdoor niches and handled the insurance needs of associations including: KOA Kampground's of America Owners Association, Association of Consulting Foresters, and Hunt Lease of America LLC, Forest Landowners Association.
