Executive Director

Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States

Sep 2020 - Apr 2022

Executive Director

Greater Kansas City Coalition To End Homelessness

Kansas City, Missouri Area

I was honored to serve as the Executive Director of the Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness (GKCCEH) for a 3 year tenure. The coalition serves both Jackson Co, MO and Wyandotte Co, KS as the oversight agency to assist projects receiving HUD funding. The CoC lead agency's role is to offer support, guidance, and education to all projects in our Continuum providing housing and other services to our neighbors experiencing homelessness. After spending much of 2018 as both as an active listener within our community and as an active partner and leader to implement innovate ideas around minimizing homelessness, GKCCEH spent 2019 implementing a list of prioritized goals set by our board and staff, with feedback from our community. In 2020, our agency created a comprehensive COVID-19 response plan that included assisting local emergency assistance programs in mobilizing and increasing services for clients, standing up a COVID 19 recovery shelter, and establishing a fuller prevention and diversion system in the community.

Homeless Program Coordinator

Chattanooga, Tennessee

In mid-2014, Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke committed to ending Veteran homelessness in Chattanooga. By February, 2015, I was selected for the new position of Homeless Coordinator for the City of Chattanooga to lead a team of local agency staff in daily communication and weekly meetings designed to end Veteran homelessness in Chattanooga. Understanding that any strategic plan must have a robust amount of data behind it in order to be most successful, I regularly collected, tracked, and reported on data relating to our housing goals. I used multiple data collection and reporting tools in order to be able to create data driven goals and results. By breaking down our community's strategic plan to end veteran homelessness into small, easy to track, time specific goals, we were able to more accurately understand where we stood in regard to meeting our goal. We were able to accurately pinpoint when our goal would be met, and what was needed in order to be successful. On Feb 03, 2017, after 2 years of weekly meetings, community wide planning, and daily communication among homeless service providers, Mayor Andy Berke received notice from the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) that the City of Chattanooga had effectively ended veteran homelessness according to USICH guidelines and criteria. Chattanooga is the first city in Tennessee to receive this distinction.
