Assisting students identify their individual strengths, skills, and interests—and then showing where that may lead—is where I find purpose as a school counselor. Education, especially higher education, is one of my top values. I believe that post-high school training (in any form) is a worthy investment in one's self and will increase a person's self-worth and quality of life in perpetuity.I am an experienced and caring high school counselor focused on improving student outcomes through the following:• Building relationships with a diverse student caseload and promoting a climate of equity and respect for all students• Advising students on course selection/sequence to achieve their goals for graduation, pathway completion, internships, college admissions, or industry certification• Being a subject matter expert on district/state education policy to support students in their progress toward graduation• Facilitating post-high school planning through 1:1 meetings with students and collaborating with parents and secondary/higher education practitioners• Advising small groups (students/parents/faculty) on various educational topics through presentations and information sessions• Maintaining positive relationships with team members, teachers, stakeholders, and outside agencies to provide timely student interventions and crisis management• Troubleshooting student barriers and identifying student access, attainment, and achievement gaps to advance K12 system improvementMy skills include: Professional Written Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Active Listening, Student Counseling, Academic Advising, Team Collaboration, Crisis Intervention, and Microsoft Office.
