As a proactive compliance professional and manager, I was responsible for leading staff and interfacing with other departments to maintain compliance with environmental programs, including development and implementation of the Hazardous Waste Management Program, a PADEP NPDES wastewater discharge permit, an industrial discharge permit for the local sewage authority, and an air emissions permit. As the facility Radiation Safety Officer, I also implemented and maintained the Radiation Protection program, including interfacing with staff Health Physics Technicians and providing technical guidance, reviewing routine survey data, and otherwise maintaining program compliance with facility PADEP radioactive materials licenses.

As a Regulatory Compliance Engineer, I supported the Regulatory Compliance and Radiation Protection programs at Curtiss-Wright, a manufacturing facility near Pittsburgh, PA. My experience covers a wide range of skills, including direct interface with regulatory agencies, report preparation and submittal, permit renewal and modification applications, writing and reviewing program procedures, auditing program compliance, and communication with contractors, management and operations personnel at all levels of the company.I was responsible for various environmental programs on-site, including development and implementation of the Hazardous Waste Management Program, a PADEP NPDES wastewater discharge permit, an industrial discharge permit for the local sewage authority, and an air emissions permit. As the facility RSO, I also supported the Radiation Protection program, including interfacing with staff Health Physics Technicians and providing technical guidance, reviewing routine survey data, and maintaining program compliance with facility PADEP radioactive materials licenses.

I primarily engaged in environmental permitting for natural gas pipelines in Pennsylvania. I also performed wetland and stream delineations; assisted with rare, threatened, and endangered species surveys and reports; wetland delineation and stream identification reports; and other fieldwork including cultural resource surveys, ambient and active wellpad sound monitoring studies, and tracking of radio-tagged Indiana Bats using telemetry equipment.I was originally hired at GAI as an intern and was awarded a scholarship for my education at Pitt. During my internship, I had the opportunity to work with several departments, including Environmental Services, Engineering, GIS, Survey, and Cultural Resources. This experience gave me a well-rounded introduction to environmental consulting and the services provided by GAI. I was hired by GAI full-time in January of 2013.

I led a macroinvertebrate identification activity to groups of about 25 children; the ages of the groups ranged from Kindergarten to Fifth grade. I also worked on several independent projects, including creating a Mount Guide for all the mounted animals within the park and a pelt identification activity for use in the Environmental Education Center. I worked closely with all park staff to acquire a holistic picture of park operations and assisted with customer service at the main park office.
