For my senior capstone, I developed a major project addressing the lack of access to education within the American Correctional system. In collaboration with two colleagues and under the guidance of Professor Miller, we created an easy-to-use, virtual platform for inmates to pursue legal education. This virtual course was distributed to be used in every correctional facility in Vermont and will expand further over time. Additionally, as an intern for the Prison Law Initiative I was responsible for developing lessons, grading homework, and providing constructive feedback for the students. Show less

I collected the stories of immigrant students by speaking to them in a personal meeting and using intercultural storytelling methods. I collected the stories of immigrant students by speaking to them in a personal meeting and using intercultural storytelling methods. These stories were displayed in a local gallery exhibit next to a professional photograph and a hand-painted portrait of the student. Intercultural actions like this can promote greater social inclusion for newer members of the community and, by sharing our human biographical stories, we hoped to foster social cohesion with more settled community members. The images and the stories collected humanized the situations of immigrant arrivals in local communities and helped the greater Dublin community to realize that we all have more similarities than differences.
