For my senior capstone, I developed a major project addressing the lack of access to education within the American Correctional system. During my time in Dublin, Ireland, I managed the project "'My Picture; My Story': An Intercultural Exhibition of Pictures and Stories" at the Intercultural Language Center. I collected the stories of immigrant students by speaking to them in a personal meeting and using intercultural storytelling methods. Intercultural actions like this can promote greater social inclusion for newer members of the community and, by sharing our human biographical stories, we hoped to foster social cohesion with more settled community members. The images and the stories collected humanized the situations of immigrant arrivals in local communities and helped the greater Dublin community to realize that we all have more similarities than differences.
