As a teacher, I work in education and shape youth to be productive members of society.I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K-6) and Early Childhood Education (PK-K) from Glenville State College in 2015. In 1872, Glenville State College was founded and was originally a college to educate science teachers. It has since grown its education program immensely. I received my master’s degree in Integrated Curriculum from American College of Education in 2020. The American College of Education is a regionally accredited, online school specializing in education, leadership, health care and nursing.After graduating from Glenville State College, I was presented with a 6th grade Math and Science teaching position in the town of Summersville, West Virginia.  When my family moved to Ohio, I was offered a teaching position as a 5th grade ELA and Social Studies teacher in Pickerington, Ohio. Due to school restructuring, I am currently teaching 5th grade Science and Social Studies in Pickerington. During my time in the Pickerington school district I was appointed to the Building Leadership Team (BLT) and the Faculty Leadership Team (FLT).  I am also a member of the district-wide Science Curriculum Committee, representing the science teachers at my building. During my time on the BLT, I’ve had the opportunity to review pre-and post-assessment results, share relevant data with the curriculum coaches, and collaborate with the other science teachers in the building. While leading our Teacher Based Team meetings my colleagues and I have developed ways to meet the needs of all of the academic levels of our students. FLT has allowed me and other committee members to find solutions for building-wide issues such as scheduling issues or if students should use their Chromebook during recess.
