As a seasoned executive and entrepreneurial leader, I have experience building new teams and initiatives within local and national education nonprofits, accomplishing ambitious goals as an educator, and providing meaningful direct service to students.Since 2012, I have served as the CEO of the Chicago Public Education Fund. The Fund is a nonprofit philanthropic organization dedicated to excellent public schools in Chicago and to supporting the incredible educators who lead them. As CEO, my team and I have raised over $90 million to help grow and keep strong principals in our city, and to enable talented educator teams to reimagine school. A study by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) revealed principals who participate in our programs are 60 percent more likely to improve than their nonparticipating peers. They are also more satisfied with their jobs and they stay longer in the role. Research suggests strong principals lead schools where climate and culture are stronger, where great teachers stay, and where students learn more.Our secret? We ask principals what support they need and we design solutions that meet those needs. My team's efforts have grown the number of top-performing principals citywide and have helped stabilize turnover among principals below national and state averages. Signature projects include The Chicago Principal Fellowship, the Summer Design Program, and The Fund's Annual Principal Engagement Survey. I have an undergraduate degree in Journalism from Marquette University, where I was named Young Alumna of the Year by the College of Communications in 2017. I taught with Teach for America on Chicago's West Side in the early 2000s, and won the Peter Jennings Award for Civic Leadership in recognition of Chicago's incredible progress. I am a certified teacher, building administrator, and superintendent in Illinois, and completed my doctorate in Educational Leadership. I serve on several nonprofit boards. My husband and I have four children who span the K-12 continuum.
