pfc Social Impact Advisors helps people and organizations with money, time, and vision do good. Its clients are foundations, individuals, impact investors, corporations, governments, and intermediaries at the leading edge of social change. My fellowship focuses on research and strategy impacting women and girls living in poverty, eliminating energy poverty among other issues. I have been working on a strategic planning process for growth of a global NGO; developing case studies on community resilience to climate change and the importance of a gender lens in impact investing.

CFW is focused on expanding opportunity and removing barriers by investing in organizations that work on ensuring the success of women and girls – enhancing economic security, providing access to health and health information and freedom from violence. Under my leadership, the organization doubled grantmaking, increased staff retention, tripled assets, structurally strengthened the organization, setting a bold, strategic direction for the foundation. Specifically:• Grew grantmaking from $1M to $2.6M, a 195% increase; • Built strong collaborations from partnerships to mergers advancing the mission;• Raised more than $35M in annual funds during my tenure to fuel the mission;• Put the organization on a strong financial footing, growing total assets from $5.4M to $15.4, a 200% increase;• Expanded community philanthropy with three geographic giving circles with nearly 170 members including giving councils, giving over $700,000; and• Developed signature initiatives to advance gender and racial equity.Follow me on twitter @k_sujata

South Asian American Policy & Research Institute (SAAPRI) is a non-profit research institute that facilitates, through the use of research, the formulation of equitable and socially responsible policy affecting South Asian Americans.In this role, I have managed and coordinated several research and evaluation projects in collaboration with Asian American organizations, on issues of health, language access and leadership.

I began my career in philanthropy as the Senior Program Officer for the Eleanor Foundation, a grantmaking organization in Chicago. It is now part of the Chicago Foundation for Women and the work continues as the Eleanor Network at Chicago Foundation for Women. It supports organizations working with low-income working women in their efforts to achieve sustained economic self-sufficiency. I was responsible for reviewing grant proposals, evaluating results and coordinating resources for the grantees.

Interfaith Housing Development Corporation of Chicago, creates long-term, locally generated solutions to homelessness by providing stable long-term housing and related services for very low-income people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness.In this role I developed a business model to raise revenues and increased the capacity of the organization’s partners. I provided technical assistance to the partners that enabled their tenants to maintain housing and avoid homelessness.

As the Director of the Chicago Continuum of Care (now the Chicago Alliance to End Homelessness), I provided leadership for the process of building consensus among diverse community groups and government agencies in implementing Chicago’s Plan to End Homelessness. Throughout this process, I developed expertise in coordinating the involvement of community organizations with political and governmental structures in undertaking large-scale systems change.

In 1999, I changed careers completely when I was invited to lead Apna Ghar, a nonprofit organization that addresses issues of domestic violence in Chicago’s South Asian community. During my tenure as the executive director of Apna Ghar, I doubled the agency's budget - as I raised awareness about issues of domestic violence and women’s empowerment.
