- 10 week summer research placement at the University of Exeter entitled ‘A Study into the Feasibility of Using Machine Learning to Evaluate the Severity of Coronary Artery Disease’. - Placement was funded by the Education and Physical Sciences Research Council.- Created a CFD model of an idealised stenosis (blockage) in a coronary artery using ANSYS FLUENT (commercial CFD software) and used an Artificial Neural Network to predict the pressure drop across the stenosis. - Work was published in ‘Journal of Undergraduate Science and Technology’ at the University of Exeter.

- Three month industrial placement with the Engineering Department of Centrax Gas Turbines. Centrax specialises in manufacturing gas turbine generator sets and employs around 700 people. - Wrote company documentation outlining Hazardous Area Zoning procedures based on British and IGEM standards. - Worked with procurement on several cost reduction exercises.- Reviewed and recommended changes for lubricating oil system.- Completed several challenging tasks and made a significant contribution to various projects.- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, use initiative and successfully apply university knowledge in an industrial environment. - Formed good working relationship with company who sponsored 3rd Year Project entitled ‘CFD Analysis of CX501 Generator Set Package Ventilation for Centrax Gas Turbines’.
