"There are three documentaries that I saw all about the New York accent, and there’s this incredible one, 'If These Knishes Could Talk.'" - Jessica ChastainAward-winning documentary filmmaker, writer and podcaster with a love for little-known stories, especially about the Big Apple.My first feature-length film, "If These Knishes Could Talk: The Story of the New York Accent," won the Manhattan Film Festival Spotlight Award, and screened at the Library of Congress as well as film festivals across the country. It was featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, WSJ, BBC, NPR, and HuffPost. It's currently streaming on Apple+ TV, YouTube, and Google Play.I followed that up with writing/producing/directing web content for TLC, NatGeo, SyFy, WETA, and the U.S. Army Reserves. In 2018 I was hired to write a book about the history of pandemics. This coincided with Covid-19 and the result was 2020's "Plagues, Pandemics and Viruses: From the Plague of Athens to Covid-19." Available on Amazon and B&N.Currently I am the Producer and Director for "American Graveyard," about an African-American cemetery that was paved over in the 1960s and is now a strip mall. We are in production and have received coverage on NowThis, The New York Times, and NPR's "Morning Edition." I'm also the creator of the podcasts "86'd" about my attempt at making a film about the '86 Mets, and "Cold Storage," about ice cream kingpin Tom Carvel.
